Aired on the 17th February 2019

It is Saturday! We wake up at 11h22, take a look outside and a deep fresh breath. Grace went shopping with the kids so we say hello to Merlin our little bird and head to the bathroom. We shave, get a quick shower and brush our teeth. Today is Jason’s tenth birthday! After getting dressed we get some coffee, put some music on and we go to work. We draw for some time but we do not feel inspired so we make a break. Grace and the kids arrive home. We help Grace with the groceries, we set up the table and we go play outside with the kids. Grace call us for lunch. We go upstairs to check on Shaun because he is not coming down for lunch.  It seems that Merlin died since this morning and Shaun just found him lying there. This really affected Shaun!

Jason’s birthday was yesterday. The kids are so happy! It is a beautiful day and we head to the Shopping Mall. Grace wants to take a look at shoes for Shaun so we stay with Jason. We get distracted for a little bit and Jason wanders off. We go after him. He was mesmerized with the balloons. He asked us for one so we buy him a red one, but he wonders off again almost not giving us time to pay. We look around but we don’t see him. Grace arrives with Shaun. She gets very nervous when we tell her Jason as disappeared. We try to run after him but he is nowhere to be found! We panic! We go down the escalators searching for a green shirt and a red balloon. We search and call for him. Suddenly we see a red balloon and a young boy with a green shirt holding it. Jason! We touch him in the shoulder, he turns… it is not him! We start the search again! Where can he be? Jason! We see a red balloon heading for the Mall’s entrance. We follow the red balloon! Jason! He goes out of the Mall! We also leave! We lost it! We look around! Where is the red balloon?! We see him! He is on the other side of the street looking at the shop window! We call for him! Jason! He sees us and he starts crossing the street without looking! A car is coming! Jason NO! We jump, we catch him, the car hits...

Two years have gone by since Jason died! We are no longer with Grace and we moved houses also! We pick up Shaun from school. We can see that Shaun is sad! We drive home, if we can call it that! This new house does not feel like home! Not for us and not for Shaun! The house is a mess! We are a mess! Shaun turns on the TV and we take a look at the schedule. He must have his snack at 4h30, do homework at 6h, have dinner at 7h and be at bed by 8h. We check the time. Almost 5h! It is pass Shaun’s snack hour. We check the fridge to see what we can give to Shaun. There is not much food in there! We ask Shaun if he wants to eat something. We give him a healthy apple to eat. He eat it while watching TV. This weekend he will be with Grace! He prefers it there! He does not like it here! Maybe he also blames us for Jason’s death! We try to play with Shaun but he prefers the TV. It is getting dark so we turn on the lights. We check the backyard to see if all is fine. We notice that Shaun seems to be getting sick. We go to our bathroom to try and find some medicine for him. Our bathroom is a mess! We need to clean up this weekend! We give the medicine to Shaun and we ask him to do his homework. It is better to start by doing his homework and after he can watch TV. We sit with Shaun while he does his homework. We check it at the end. All seems to be correct! We let him go watch a little more TV. We prepare Shaun’s dinner. Some precooked chicken with potato and carrots that we bought. We heat it in the microwave and dinner is done. We sit with him while he eats. We are both sad and there is no conversation! It is 8h25 already! Passed Shaun’s bed time! We tell Shaun to go to bed. He asks for a little more time. Because he is a little sick we give him a little longer. We take the time to look at the newspaper. The headline talks about the Origami killer once again. Seems that he made another victim, the seventh one. We put the newspaper down looking genuinely afraid!

Let’s see what the mail brought today… Newsletters, more newsletters and a personal envelope. We open it. A letter is inside. A strange letter. It says…

“When the parents come home from church, all their children were gone. They searched and called for them, they cried and begged, but it was all to no avail. The children have never been seen again.”

Well now it is really time for Shaun to go to bed. He goes up to brush his teeth and put his pyjamas. We turn off the TV and go upstairs. It is raining outside! We put the blinds down and we try to say goodnight to Shaun but suddenly he realises that he is missing his Teddy. We promise that we will search for it. We start by searching the bedroom. We check in our bedroom but is nothing there. Shaun falls asleep! We tuck him in and kiss him goodnight! When we leave the bedroom we feel dizzy and we blackout. When we open our eyes we are in the middle of the street, under the rain, holding an origami dog! What has happened?! Why are we alone under the rain in Carnaby Corner North in the middle of the night? Where is Shaun?

Episode 2

Aired on the 24th February 2019

We park in front of the Motel on Tuesday at 00:06 AM. It is raining but the water is only 0.272 inches. We are a private detective named Scott Shelby and we are looking for Lauren Winter that is lodged there in the third floor last door left at the end of the corridor. We knock at her door. She believes we are a customer, charges us 50 bucks for 10 minutes and allows us in. We need information from her! We introduce ourselves and explain that the families of the victims of the Origami Killer hired us to investigate the murders. She refuses to give us information. According to her she already told everything to the police. We try to be compassionate but that only infuriates her more. She found her son’s body in a wasteland so she does not see how we can even get close to know what she is being through. We try to convince her with good arguments, but she does not care anymore. We try to argument that we bought 10 minutes of her time so she could take that time to answer some of our questions but that only escalates her anger to the point of throwing us out of her apartment. We should have tricked her instead! We leave our card in the kitchen table and we leave.

All this excitement caused us an asthma attack. We lean on the wall and with a lot of effort we are able to take our inhaler to breath again. The timing was perfect because we see Troy, Lauren’s ex-customer bagging at her door trying to get in. She opens the door and then we hear her screams. We knock again at her door and Troy opens. We break the door and we start a fight with Troy. We fight him until he runs away but not before threatening us. Lauren thanks us for the help and we leave.

It is now Tuesday 8:05 AM and the rain is only 0.680 inches high. We are agent Norman Jayden from the FBI. It seems we have some issue that makes our hands tremble and we need to take some blue drug. We arrive to the crime scene and search for Lieutenant Blake. We start analysing the crime scene. We are surprised that there are already reporters on the scene, they seem to be well informed. We put on some high tech glasses and gloves. These allow us to record and analyse in the evidences found in the crime scene in the moment. We start by stating our agent number, 47023, name, Norman Jayden, date, Tuesday October 4th and time 8:14 AM. We find an empty bottle with DNA from Oscar Dalzell and we are quick to determine that it is not related to the crime. We find some footprints but they belong to Andrew Simpson, one of the policemen that is present working the crim scene. An officer points us to Lieutenant Blake but still we search for some more evidences. We head for the small tent where we believe the body of the victim is laying. Lieutenant Blake stops us when we are about to enter the tent. We introduce ourselves. Lieutenant Blake takes us through the events. The body was found by a man walking his dog about 6:00 AM. The body was not yet identified but it seems that it is another victim of the Origami killer. The coroner is still on his way. There are no witnesses yet and Lieutenant Blake does not think there will be any. The victim seems to have been drowned like the other victims around 6 hours ago but they need the coroner to confirm this. Lieutenant Blake asks us to talk about the details later in the office but he allows us to keep analysing the crime scene.

We put our glasses on again and we head to the tent to analyse the body. On our way we find more footprints belonging to the police officers and a very interesting evidence. There is flower pollen (Phaleanopsis Partense Orchid) in the air being more concentrated near the body and it has been there less than 12 hours ago.  We reach the tent and start analysing the body. The victim is laying on his back and there is no visible signs of violence. The body contains high amounts of the flower pollen which suggests that an orchid was placed on the victim’s chest. On the right hand the victim holds an origami figure, a dog. The system identifies the victim as Jeremy Bowles declared missing 5 days ago, born in 1999 in Hagen Pennsylvania. The face is covered in blood like the other victims and there is a superficial wound that seems to have been made post-mortem probably made when removing the body. The blood report indicates an advanced and long-lasting state of exhaustion.

We continue analysing the crime scene. If the murdered carried the body here there must be traces, also if the body was scratched while being transported we should be able to find more blood traces. We follow the pollen trace to the trails. We are interrupted by Blake that comes to tell us that he is heading to the office. We decide to stay and continuing our analysis. Reaching the trails we see that the pollen particles disappear where the grass is tall, but we find blood traces in the railroad track that are confirmed to be from the victim. Following the railroad we find footprints that seem to belong to the killer. Near them, in the fence we find more traces of blood that come from the victim. It seems that the killer came this way to dump the body but it grazed it in the fence. We start climbing the hill, which with the rain that is pouring is not an easy task. Filled with mud we finally reach the top. There are footprints that can belong to the killer and some tire tracks that may be from the killer’s car on the side of the road. We head back to our car!

It is still Tuesday, 1:00 PM and the rain is 0.765 inches. We are Ethan Mars again and we are at the shrink. The doctor is worried about our psychological status. We blame ourselves for Jason’s death. We recognise that our son Shaun is unhappy because he cannot understand why we are unable to love him. We don’t want to live anymore, we cannot find any reason to continue and we don’t think that Shaun needs a father like us. We tell our doctor about the blackouts we are experiencing. We ask the doctor if these blackouts can be related to the accident. He does not have an answer. We have suffered massive concussion and were in a coma for 6 months, the doctor is not sure of how this could have affected our brain. The session ends!

It is 4:10 PM and the rain is of 0.986 inches. We are in the park with Shaun. Shaun tells us how the teacher was angry that he was again late and that next time she will not allow him to attend the class. We feel guilty! Shaun is sad, he looks miserably sad! We try to entertain him. We go get the boomerang and start throwing it. The first time we fail to catch it but the second and third time we do it perfectly! We teach Shaun how to do it. He throws it and he catches it. He is happy! We then decide to go to the seesaw. We play a little with Shaun there. He is laughing! He is really having fun! So we take him to the merry-go-round. We push him the faster as we can and he smiles and laughs! We are smiling too! We sense that rain is coming so we decide to leave the park, but when we are heading out Shaun asks to just go for one ride in the Carousel. We allow, he is finally having fun, we cannot deny that now. We go buy the ticket for him. The rain starts pouring, the carousel starts spinning and we have a blackout!

We wake up again at Carnaby Street and are almost hit by a truck. We start running back to the park searching for Shaun! The park is now empty! There is no one there! We search everywhere. We find his backpack but no Shaun! We go around screaming his name! We run home to see if he is there. We search the whole house but we cannot find Shaun! When we open our hand we find another origami figure. We lost Shaun!
